Of Interest

Many thanks to those who purchased my artwork in support of Bridges to Community. All sales went to the sponsorship of a new house for a family waiting for better shelter in Nicaragua.

Last year, I went to Nicaragua for the second time as a volunteer with Bridges to Community to help build a house. We worked with local masons, the family to live in the house, and members of the community. I also visited the family for whom we built a house in 2010. It was wonderful to see them again and hear how much pride they have in their home. Photos from March 2011 (Masaya, Nicaragua)

Home is a project in progress that asks the question, “Is home defined by a specific location, or is it an immutable sensation or concept within us?” In our globalized age, when many people travel and frequently move, the ideas of home and belonging are in flux, no longer necessarily associated with one, fixed place.  This project documents and draws upon memories of all the residences I have called home over the last 40 years.
